A dream of the diaspora becomes reality

SerbianCamp was born as a shared dream of two worlds - one in America and one in the homeland - brought together by the life story of the Royal Family Karađorđević. Antonije Kovačević, owner of the Serbian Times portal from Chicago, and the Royal Foundation of H.R.H. Crown Prince Philip and Princess Danica of Serbia came together around a single question.

How can our children, born under the skies of America and around the world, like the Serbian princes Peter, Philip and Alexander, stay connected to their roots - to the culture, language and history of the Serbian people? A question they too have asked themselves many times.

Over seven days filled with friendship, song, art and the scent of the homeland, we connect young Serbs from the diaspora with their roots and their peers from the homeland. Under the patronage of the Royal Family and with the support of the diaspora's leading media outlet, we create a space where Serbian calligraphy, the Cyrillic script, traditional singing and dancing are learned - and where lifelong friendships are born.
